WHY JOIN SUAA?

KCC Employees

SUAA is committed to monitoring all legislation geared at higher education.

SUAA lobbies the legislature to prevent legislation from becoming law that would harm KCC employees, such as attempts to change the "pension clause" in the Illinois Constitution.

SUAA proposes legislation that is beneficial to KCC employees. When harmful legislation passes the legislature, SUAA uses the court system to challenge this legislation.

SUAA works on issues related to community college employment, for example, the 6% salary increase cap.

At retirement, SURS members are entitled to health insurance. SUAA is vigilant on updates regarding health insurance. SUAA works to ensure that the College Insurance Plan (which employees have paid for throughout their careers) is there when KCC employees need it at retirement.
